Mandarin Immersion Preschool and Pre-kindergarten Programs

 

 



The Lake Oswego School District (LOSD) Mandarin Immersion Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten programs are located at Palisades Elementary School. These programs are open to all children residing within the LOSD boundaries.

Our goals are to prepare children emotionally and socially for their first years in school, as well as to provide opportunities to learn through discovery in areas such as, math, science, art, music, and literature.  The instructor will be immersing children in the Mandarin language, culture and traditions.

Parents will be provided with a monthly curriculum schedule and updates on children’s activities.  Children will be part of the Palisades school community, attending school functions and special performances, and will be given the opportunity to learn and explore in a child-centered environment. 

Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten classes are offered through the LOSD Extended Day Program. All early childhood education programs follow the Lake Oswego School District calendar.

Mandarin Immersion Preschool*

Age:

Three years old on or before September 1

Time:

Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:00 a.m.-12:45 p.m. 

Class size:

Up to eight students with one instructor.

Cost:

$235 per month, $25 registration fee

Mandarin Immersion Pre-Kindergarten*

Age:

Four years old on or before September 1

Time:

Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, 8:50 a.m.-1 p.m.  

Class size:

Up to ten students with one instructor

Cost:

$330 per month, $25 registration fee

Registration for the 2012-13 program will begin Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011.

Registration Information

* Initiation of the Mandarin Immersion Programs is contingent on hiring a qualified instructor and on sufficient enrollment. The preschool and pre-k classes will be stand-alone programs with an open enrollment process each year. Enrollment in the preschool program will not guarantee a slot in the pre-k program the following year.
