The purpose of this web site is to inform teachers, parents and students about the services provided by the ELL Program in the Lake Oswego School District.
Our ObjectiveThe
primary objective of this District program is to provide the instruction and
support required to help English Language Learners (ELL) attain the
reading, writing, listening and speaking skills they need to reach the same high
academic standards the District expects of all students.
Educational ApproachThe
Lake Oswego School District’s English Language Learner (ELL) Program provides
services to students with limited English proficiency so that their
language does not constitute a barrier to their receiving the same programs,
services, and quality of education the District provides to all students. The strategies used in the Lake Oswego School District are those which research has shown to be most effective in promoting English language proficiency and that are most appropriate and practical for a district with Lake Oswego’s student population.
